Orion Foxwood is a traditional Witch, Southern Conjure-man. Faery Seer, and self-proclaimed Eco-Magical Activist. He was born with “the veil” (the second sight), and raised in a southern and Appalachian folk culture in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. There, he was exposed to folk magic and healing practices, root-doctoring, and faery lore which he teaches in workshops and other forums. He is the founder of the House of Brigh Faery Seership Institute, for teaching Faery lore and practices, and Foxwood Temple, a coven to pass on the traditional witchcraft of his elders. Orion was the co-founder of gatherings aimed at fostering education, community, co-creative magick, and the healing and helping practices of the traditions he carries, such as Conjure-Craft, Witches in the Woods, The Many Roads of Faery, and The Folk Magic Festival. A prolific author, his books include Mountain Conjure and Southern Rootwork (2021), The Flame in the Cauldron: a Book of Old-Style Witchery (2015),The Candle and the Crossroads: A Book of Appalachian Conjure and Southern Rootwork (2012), The Tree of Enchantment (2008), and The Faery Teachings (2007). He holds a Master's Degree in Human Services and prior to becoming a full-time author and teacher of eco-spiritual traditions, he was a public health program and policy developer in the Nation's capital.
